Peter Cowie

Historiador y crítico de cine, Peter Cowie (Inglaterra, 1939) estudió Historia en la Universidad de Cambridge. En 1963 fundó la ‘In ternational Film Guide’ , una encuesta anual sobre la producción cinemato gráfica mundial, que continuó editando durante cuarenta años. Ha ocupado la cátedra Regents en la Universidad de California, Santa Barbara, y es asesor de varios festivales de cine. De 1989 a 2000 fue Director Internacional de Publicaciones de ‘Variety’ . También ha publicado en periódicos y revistas de todo el mundo, entre ellos ‘The New York Times’ , ‘The Wall Street Journal’ , ‘The Sunday Times’ , ‘Los Angeles Times’ , ‘Le Monde’ , ‘Expressen’ , ‘Sight and Sound’ y ‘Film Comment’ . Es autor de una treintena de libros, entre los que cabe destacar ‘Ingmar Bergman: A Critical Biography’ (1982), ‘The Cinema of Orson Welles’ (1983), ‘Swedish cinema, from Ingeborg Holm to Fanny and Alexander’ (1985), ‘The Godfather Book’ (1997), ‘The Apocalypse Now Book’ (2001), ‘John Ford and the American West’ (2004), ’Revolution: The Explosion of World Cinema in the Sixties’ (2004), ‘Louise Brooks: Lulu Forever’ (2006), ‘Joan Crawford: The Enduring Star’ (2009) y ‘The Godfather; The Official Motion Picture Archives’ (2012).
